South San to Leon Creek Transmission Line Project

The South San to Leon Creek Transmission Line Rebuild Project consists of rebuilding approximately 1.6 miles of single circuit 138kV transmission line from the South San Substation to the Leon Creek Substation. The project consists of completely removing and rebuilding the transmission line, including foundations, and adding new transmission structures and electrical wires. The current lattice (webbed) structures will be replaced with steel monopoles.

Transmission line infrastructure consists of specially designed structures and wires that move electricity long distances at high voltages from station to station.

The reconstruction of the transmission line is necessary to support the accelerating growth in San Antonio. It will also increase the reliability of Texas’ electric grid by adding another path for electric transmission.
